Welcome Adrien Joseph

After much anticipation, Mr. Adrien Joseph Breaux made is earthly debut on Friday May 13, 2011 at 6:12 am. He arrived one day before my due date, just like his big brother Henri.  The day started like any other....I rolled my large self out of bed and prepared breakfast for Henri.  I had started my maternity leave a week earlier, so everything was prepared and ready for baby Breaux number 2.  Grammie came over around noon to watch Henri so that I could go to my weekly doctor appointment.  A few days earlier my doctor scheduled me for an induction on the 13th, but I called to cancel last minute because the 13th was a Friday and I didn't want to have any bad luck!!

As I left the hospital following my routine appointment I didn't feel quite right.  I had been having braxton hicks contractions for a few days, but this felt different.  When I arrived home I asked my mother to stick around and do some grocery shopping with me....the whole time having contractions, but I didn't want a false alarm so I didn't say anything.  After putting all the groceries away my mom offered to take Henri outside to play.  I rested on the couch and started timing my contractions...only about 25 minutes apart.  Finally, my mom started getting ready to leave so I asked her to stay, just in case.  After dinner we made a bed in the new nursery for my mom and we read stories to Henri.  It was American Idol night so I let him get cozy in my bed to watch a few songs.....then the contractions started to get VERY close together.  After I clocked them at 7 minutes apart I decided to call JP home from work and my in-laws to drive out to spend the night with Henri.  My mom joined me and JP and the hospital.  The picture below was taken in between the worst contractions and right before we left for the hospital.

Labor and delivery was a much different experience this time around.  After my water broke I was measured at about 8 cm and was given an epidural.  I labored most of the night while JP and my mom took turns sleeping on the couch in the hospital room.  By early morning I was ready to push.....approximately 10 minutes later at 6:12 am Adrien was here.....no vacuum, no cord around the neck, no problem!!  Weighing 8lbs 5ozs and 21 inches long my sweet babe had tons of fluffy bond hair :-)

Henri came with daddy later that day to meet his new "baby brudder."  As you can see by the photos below, it was love at first sight!  Welcome to the world Mr. Breaux!!!!
