First Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is my absolute favorite holiday. Family and great food, there couldn't be a better combination. This year for Henri's first turkey feast we went to Matante Sally and Uncle Mike's house. Unfortunately, JP had to work all day so I packed up my baby and headed out alone. This year I made two delicious meat pies and a pumpkin cheesecake. The day before I went to see my Gram because I had heard through the grapevine that she had made me a beautiful braided rug...I was right! She had been working tirelessly on it for my new house. I packed up my new rug and went to my mom's for a quick visit. It was here that I found out that I would be making the meat pies. My mother cheerfully loaded my car with all the ingredients patting me on the back saying "but your meat pies are so much better." So off I went with my baby in tow and all the ingredients that would keep me up cooking half the night. Lucky for me, Henri went right to sleep allowing me some time to cook and bake for Thanksgiving. Just as my last meat pie was out of the oven and my cheesecake was cooling Henri promptly woke with a cry and our nighttime game of "go to sleep Henri" began.

Thanksgiving day was fantastic. I will say, I have a new appreciation for my husband. He was sorely missed. It is nice to have a relief person to help out with the baby. Poor little Henri was man handled all day and wasn't able to get a proper nap. We stayed till about 6 and Henri cried the entire way back to Worcester :-(

This year I truly feel blessed to have a wonderful husband (even though we have our rough moments), a beautiful, healthy little boy, and the house I have always dreamed of having. It is so easy to get wrapped up in my day to day life that it is easy to forget how lucky I am. I am looking forward to Henri's first Christmas....next weekend we get our tree :-)
