Tis the Season

This weekend was perfect. JP and I decided last week that we would wait till this weekend to get our Christmas tree and decorate the house. Not only did we get our tree, but Henri experienced his first snowfall :-) The snow began to fall last night at around 7:30 and I took Henri to the window where there is an outside light. The wind was blowing the flakes around as they sparkled against the light. Henri was fascinated. We stood together looking out the window for almost 5 minutes while Henri would touch the glass, look at me, and then touch the glass again.

On Sunday morning we woke up to a winter wonderland. Henri usually bounces in our sun room while we eat breakfast. The room is lined with windows and provided a picture perfect view of the beautiful snow outside. After bundling up the little man and scraping the car we were off. At mass my friend Ellie, who does the choir, approached us and asked if we were willing to be the Holy family for Christmas Eve mass......it would involve us dressing up like the virgin Mary, Joseph and of course, Henri would be little baby Jesus. I could sense that JP was reluctant, but there is no speaking involved, only walking slowly toward the alter and then holding up Henri at the end of a song sung by the choir. The costumes are quite beautiful and elaborate. I hope Henri isn't too fussy during the service :-)
After church we got our tree....I have to say it is the most perfectly shaped tree imaginable. It fits just right in our small sun room. Henri took a nice nap when we got home, long enough for me to make some delicious gingerbread cookies - some for the tree and some for eating. JP strung the lights up after Henri woke up and then I hung all our ornaments. We topped our day off with Chinese food......couldn't have been a more perfect day :-)
