This Saturday Henri and I ventured out in the snow to attend our first "Minny Minnows" swim class. We are taking the class with Michelle and baby Lucy. Once we arrived at the club it was a little tricky getting Henri and myself changed and ready to go but we managed. JP had to work so I didn't have the extra help.
From the moment we entered the pool area, Henri started to flap is arms and squeal in delight. There were several other parents with babies waiting by the pool and Henri waved and smiled at all the other babes. Michelle and Lucy finally arrived just before class started and we all lined up and sat along the edge of the pool. The instructor went over all the rules and then it was time to jump in. Another daddy was helpful and held Henri while I got into the pool and then he handed Henri down to me. Henri was nervous at first, but quickly got used to the water. He wasn't as comfortable as baby Lucy, who kicked her legs and moved her arms automatically - I swear if Michelle had let her go she would have swam laps around us.
During our half hour class we sang, "Ring around the Rosie," "The Wheels on the Bus," "Motor Boat," "If You're Happy and You Know it," as well as practiced our kicks and moving our hands for the doggie paddle. By the end of the class I was freezing, so I can only imagine how cold Henri was. After our class we traveled over for a visit with baby Mya and Claire. Kara prepared a delicious breakfast for us :-) a special treat after our exhausting morning. Next week I will be sure to take some pictures....
